Applications

PE100 is the default choice where a buried main has to stay leak-free and survive decades of ground movement. Fused joints are as strong as the pipe wall, so the line behaves as one continuous length, with no pulled sockets and no infiltration. Its flexibility absorbs settlement and makes it well suited to trenchless installation, and because it does not corrode or scale, flow capacity holds over the design life. Typical duties are potable water transmission and reticulation, pumped irrigation, industrial process fluids and abrasive slurry.

03Ordering & specifying

How to specify HDPE Pipes (PE100).

  1. 01Choose nominal diameter (Ø) from the required flow and velocity.
  2. 02Choose the pressure class (PN) from the operating and surge pressure, from PN6 to PN25. A higher PN means a lower SDR and thicker wall.
  3. 03SDR (diameter-to-wall ratio) follows from PN for PE100: PN16 maps to SDR11, PN12.5 to SDR13.6, PN10 to SDR17.
  4. 04Joint by size: butt fusion above 110 mm, electrofusion across the range, compression fittings at 110 mm and below.
  5. 05Confirm the available upper diameter and size/PN combinations with our team before tender.

Jointing methods

Butt fusion joint, sizes above 110 mm
Butt fusion, above 110 mm
Electrofusion coupler joint, all sizes
Electrofusion, all sizes

Fused joints are as strong as the pipe wall, so the main behaves as one continuous, leak-free length.

Not sure which class or size? Ask our engineers, and we will confirm the spec for your project.

Standards & certifications

Manufactured to standard, tested to confirm it.

This line is manufactured to KS ISO 4427 and PE100, with quality control at material intake, in-line dimensional checks, hydrostatic testing and batch traceability.

We state conformance only for the lines we manufacture, and present products as built to KEBS-referenced standards. Where a KEBS mark applies to a line, the certificate is shown on the quality page.

05Frequently asked

HDPE Pipes (PE100), questions answered.

What standard is the pipe made to?+

KS ISO 4427 in PE100 material. The datasheet dimensions follow the standard's diameter, SDR and wall-thickness series.

How do I choose the pressure class (PN)?+

Match PN to the maximum operating pressure including surge. For PE100, PN maps to SDR, so a higher PN uses a lower SDR and thicker wall for the same diameter. Our team can confirm the class for your hydraulics.

How is HDPE pressure pipe jointed?+

Butt fusion for sizes above 110 mm, electrofusion across the range, and mechanical compression fittings at 110 mm and below. Fused joints are fully end-loaded and leak-free.

Is it suitable for potable water?+

Yes. PE100 to KS ISO 4427 is used for potable water mains and reticulation. UV-stabilised material allows handling and storage before installation.

What is the design life?+

PE100 pressure pipe is designed for a 20-year service life at its rated class, and is corrosion- and scale-free so flow capacity is retained.

What diameters are available?+

From 20 mm up to large-diameter mains. The catalogued range shown is to KS ISO 4427. Ask us for the exact upper diameter available.
